An HTTP TrueUpdate server location is a URL to a location on a Web server. The TrueUpdate client will download the server configuration files from the Web site using the HTTP protocol.

Server Info

Name/ID:

The unique identifier of the current TrueUpdate server location. This identifier can be used whenever you need to access this particular server location.

Folder URL:

The URL containing the directory where the TrueUpdate server configuration files will be hosted. The protocol designator is optional, e.g. "www.yourdomain.com/trueupdate/" and "http://www.yourdomain.com/trueupdate/" are equally valid.

Tip: The folder URL also supports the expansion of session variables, allowing you to change it dynamically at runtime.

Timeout:

The connection timeout (in seconds) for communication between the TrueUpdate client and this HTTP site.

Note: Timeout values are interpreted in multiple ways during client server communication. As a result the actual timeout used by the connection may differ from the value specified.

Port:

The port to connect to on the HTTP server. The standard HTTP port 80 is used by default.

Authentication

This section allows you to specify a user name and password if the URL is protected by basic HTTP authentication.

Use authentication

Include basic HTTP authentication information in the HTTP request.

Username:

The user name to use during authentication.

Password:

The password to use during authentication.
