Screens

A screen in TrueUpdate is an interactive graphical user interface that is optionally shown while the update runs. There is no minimum or maximum number of screens that an update must have. There are a variety of screen types available in TrueUpdate that can be used to display or collect information from the user.

Tip: You can also configure the theme you want to use in your update without having to configure each screen manually. Themes are very much like "skins" for your update. You can configure the project theme that you want to apply to all of the screens by choosing Project > Theme... from the program menu. If you'd like to create your own themes, see Screen Dimensions and How Screens Are Drawn for some useful information.

Tip: Themes can also be stored externally such as on a network drive allowing you to share themes between products and developers. See the Additional themes folder preference for further information.

Screen text can also be translated for each language that is supported by your update. A language selector can be found on the Settings tab of each screen's properties dialog so you can quickly translate this text. You can add additional languages to your update from the Languages tab. You can access the languages tab by choosing Project > Languages... from the program menu.

There are two areas on the design window where you can add and configure the lists of screens that you want to show during your update. These two areas are the Client Screens and Server Screens panels. Each of these panels allow you to add, remove, edit and arrange the order of the lists of screens, as well as import and export the screen's language text. You can switch between the two panels by clicking the appropriate tab at the bottom of the panel. For more information about these two panels, see their respective topics listed below.
