As stated in the previous section, all applicable options and media files will be converted from AutoPlay Menu Studio 3 to AutoPlay Media Studio 8. However given the subtle and dramatic differences between AutoPlay 3 and AutoPlay 8 some options cannot be converted, most notably among these are actions.
Actions will not be converted from AutoPlay Menu Studio 3 to AutoPlay Media Studio 8. Given the vastly different way in which actions and variables are handle in AutoPlay 8, as opposed to AutoPlay 3, a conversion between the two is next to impossible.
In order to make the conversion process easier for you, all of the actions from your AutoPlay 3 project will be converted as comments on the appropriate events in the converted AutoPlay 8 project. In cases where there is no one-to-one conversion between events (as in the AutoPlay 3 web browser objects and the AutoPlay 8 web objects) the action code from AutoPlay 3 will be converted to the most appropriate AutoPlay 8 event.
The preference settings will not be converted from AutoPlay Media Studio 3 to AutoPlay Media Studio 8 since they are program wide, not project specific. The project converter only converts those options that are project specific.
The following project settings cannot be converted from AutoPlay Media Studio 3 to AutoPlay Media Studio 8:
Splash Screen and Credits screens are not converted, image files specified will be added to the 8 project
Initialize %QtVersion% Variable is not converted, as this setting does not exist in 8
This feature does not exist in 8 and is not converted from 3 at all.
Volume and Speed settings are not converted into 8, all else is.
The security settings are not converted as they do not exist in the same fashion in 8.
The following options will not be converted from pages in AutoPlay Media Studio 3 to AutoPlay Media Studio 8:
Window Title - This setting from the first page in AutoPlay 3 will be used as the Project Settings > Appearance Tab Window Title in AutoPlay 8. This setting for all other pages will be discarded.
Highlight Pane Image - Will not be converted, will be added to the project.
Shortcut keys will not be converted from AutoPlay 3 to 8.
All properties will be converted.
Text objects are converted to 8 paragraph objects.
Object size will be slightly larger due to the way the paragraph object works.
All properties will be converted.
If a highlight image is specified, the image object will be converted into a 8 button object.
The Show Highlight Pane on Mouse Over setting will not be converted since it does not exist.
Converted as a video object.
Maintain Original Size - This setting will not be converted into 8 since it does not exist. This settings keeps the object sized to the video and does not allow you to resize it at all. The size will be imported properly.
Tool Tip - The video object does not support a tooltip in 8.
Will be imported as a 8 input object with the Read Only setting turned on.
All settings will be imported properly.
If "Load File At Runtime" is specified and the file can be found, the file will be added to the project, and its contents will be read and set as the input object's text.
Actions will not be imported, but will be visible in 8 as commented-out script. Each action will be converted into a reasonable version of the 3 look.
If a file is specified in a 3 action, and it can be found, it will be added to the 8 project. This includes files in the Virtual CD-ROM and files that have full paths provided.
All files that can be found (Virtual CD-ROM files and direct links to files) will be added to the 8 project. If they cannot be found a warning will be displayed.
