Setup Factory for Windows Installer

Start a New Project

This dialog appears by default whenever you start a new project (File > New) as well as when Setup Factory first starts up. It provides you with a quick way to start new projects as well as to open an existing project.

Create a new project

If selected, you can choose a project type from the list below and then click OK to create a new project of that type. Choose from:

Installer Project

Creates an installer project. This is the most common type of project to create.

Merge Module Project

Creates a new Merge Module project. This project type is useful if you want to create a merge module for files and components that you want to share among various installer projects.

Show project wizard

If checked, the project wizard will help you get your new project setup. If unchecked, a blank "default" project of the type selected will be created without showing the project wizard. When you first start using Setup Factory it is a good idea to leave the project wizards on.

Open an existing project

If selected, you can re-open an existing Setup Factory project file. You can choose from a list of recently used project files or click the Browse button to browse your system to locate a file.
