You can change the location where new project folders are created by changing the Default new project base folder setting on the Folders page of the Preferences dialog.
User's Guide - Projects
Every project has its own project folder. The project folder is where the project file, the Resources folder, and the Distribution folder are located.
When you start a new project, a project folder is automatically created for you using the same name that you gave the project on the Start Project dialog.
By default, all new project folders are created in your "My Documents\AutoPlay Media Studio Projects" folder.

The project folder makes it easy to transport a project to another location: just copy the entire folder over to the new location, and open the project from there.
