Advanced Options dialog

The Advanced Options dialog is where you can configure additional settings for the currently selected Media Player Object.

This dialog is opened when you press the Advanced Options ( ) button on the Settings tab of the Media Player Object Properties dialog.

User Permissions

Allow change display size

Controls whether the user will be able to change the display size of the media file at run time. When this option is enabled, a "Video Size" item will be available in the shortcut menu of the Media Player control.

NOTE

This option allows the user to change the size of the Media Player display at run time, overriding the size that you set for the Media Player Object. This usually has a less than desirable effect on the design of your AutoPlay application. Enabling this option is not recommend for most users!

(This option has no effect if the user has Media Player 9.0 installed. Changing the display size is always supported in that version.)

Show context menu

When this option is enabled, right-clicking the mouse anywhere on the Media Player Object will open a context (shortcut) menu.

The context menu contains options usually available to the user as buttons (Play/Pause, Stop, Properties, and so on). If any of these buttons are disabled, the corresponding functions will also be disabled in the context menu.

Allow scanning

Controls whether the fast forward and rewind features are enabled for the Media Player Object, and whether the user can scan forward or back by selecting "Scan Forward" or "Scan Rewind" in the shortcut menu. (When scanning, the handle on the seek bar moves rapidly forward or backward. The user can press the play, stop or pause buttons to stop scanning.)

NOTE

Only certain types of files can be scanned, regardless of whether the Allow scanning option is enabled.

(This option has no effect if the user has Media Player 9.0 installed. Scanning is not supported in that version.)

Allow click on movie to play/pause

When this option is enabled, the user can click the mouse directly on the Media Player Object's display area to play or pause the media file.

(This option has no effect if the user has Media Player 9.0 installed. Clicking on the movie to play or pause is not supported in that version.)

Other Properties

Automatically start playing media

Controls whether the media file will begin playing automatically whenever the Media Player Object is refreshed.

If this option is enabled, the media file will start playing automatically as soon as the object is refreshed.

If this option is disabled, the media file will not play until a "Media Player Object - Play" action is performed on the object.

Automatically rewind when clip is stopped

Controls whether the media file will automatically return to the beginning whenever it is stopped.

 IMPORTANT

!

When the version 6.4 Windows Media Player ActiveX control is used, clicking the stop button on the Media Player Object will always rewind the media file, regardless of this setting. (The version 6.4 ActiveX control is used when Windows Media Player 9.0 is not installed.)

In other words, if the user doesn't have Media Player 9.0 installed, clicking the stop button on the Media Player Object will rewind the media file even if this option is enabled.

Stopping the media file by using a Media Player Object - Stop action will work properly, though, even if the version 6.4 control is being used.
