AutoPlay Media Studio 7.5’s Drag and Drop Development

Building professional software couldn’t be easier! Our award-winning WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) visual design environment makes multimedia software development easy and fun. Simply drag and drop your media content onto one or more pages and then add interactivity with over 640 built-in actions.
Transparency, Shadows and Blending

Support for 32-bit PNG images, gives you access to incredible shadow effects, blending options, opacity levels and full alpha channel information.
Layout Tools

Just like in your favorite image editing software, AutoPlay Media Studio contains all of the popular layout tools such as object alignment, page grids, and guidelines.
Custom Window Shapes

Forget about being restricted to rectangular windows. With the window mask feature, you can create applications of any size and shape you desire. Select from the included masks like “star,” “bubble” and “oval,” or make your own.
Interactive Objects
There are over a dozen different object types to choose from. Object types include: button, image, video, label, paragraph, rich text, hotspot, flash, web, slideshow, input, checkbox, radiobox, listbox, combobox, tree control, and progress. Each object includes a variety of events and is fully customizable.

Quick Actions

You don’t need to be a programmer to use AutoPlay Media Studio. It’s easy enough for anyone to use. While a full wizard-assisted scripting engine is available for power users, the new Quick Action tab lets new users get up to speed right away. Just fill in the blanks to handle the most popular actions like opening documents, running programs, switching pages and more. It’s that easy!
Scripting

For advanced users, AutoPlay Media Studio 7.5 includes the same scripting engine as other Indigo Rose products. Based on the popular “Lua” language, this incredibly powerful free-form scripting engine features everything from ‘for, repeat and while’ loops, to ‘if/else’ conditions, functions, variables and associative arrays. AutoPlay’s event-driven, object-oriented architecture makes it easy to create interactive multimedia applications.
Action Wizard

The built-in action wizard makes the scripting engine accessible to everyone. Simply choose the action you want from a categorized list (complete with on-screen interactive help), fill in the requested information fields and the wizard does the rest. We’ve included a library of more than 250 powerful yet easy to use actions. There are high-level actions to handle everything from text file editing to system registry changes. You can execute programs, open documents, query drive information, manipulate strings, copy files, enumerate processes, interact with web scripts, display dialog boxes and much more.
Properties Inspector
The properties inspector is a fast way to view and edit all of the attributes of a page or object. You can interactively edit the object text, font, size, color, tooltip and much more without missing a beat.

Project Explorer

Get an overview of your project in one place. You can see all of the pages, events and objects in your project organized into a tree hierarchy. Double-click any item to edit its properties or right-click for common commands. It’s a great way to see how everything is connected.
Page Management
Pages are the backbone of AutoPlay Media Studio. Consider that you can have up to 1000 of them in each project and you’ll realize the importance of effective page management. Accessing pages is easy thanks to the page tabs on the main window. You can also easily change page order, rename or remove pages and more with the click of your mouse.
Window Styles

Run your project as a standard window, or go for something more extraordinary like bordered, flat, or kiosk mode. With support for window masks, you don’t even have to make it rectangular. Talk about cool!
Advanced Multi-Channel Audio

Take advantage of the fastest, most advanced sound effect and music handling engine available anywhere. Add music files to the play list, and they’ll play in the background while your project runs. All of the music is automatically mixed in real time with mouse-over sound effects. In fact, you can play up to 8 channels of audio simultaneously with automatic selection of hardware or software mixing. Incredibly, it does not require any version of DirectSound or DirectX to be installed, using them only if available.
Menu Bars

Add a standard Windows-style menu bar to your project. It’s easy to configure and edit, even letting you configure nested items. When a menu item is selected, it fires a project event telling you what was chosen, allowing you to take whatever action you desire.
Advanced Objects

AutoPlay Media Studio has many sophisticated objects built right in, such as the Tree object which makes setting up an interactive hierarchical tree view a snap.
Startup Video or Flash Movie

Start your project up with an introductory video or flash animation. It can run full screen or windowed and makes an eye-catching start to your project. Of course, there are a variety of option settings including size and background color.
Dependency Checking

Automatically check the user’s system for required technologies with the built-in dependencies system. The dependency checking system is completely open and scripted, so you can modify the behaviour or even add your own technologies to the list.
Easy Publishing

AutoPlay Media Studio makes building and distributing your finished project a snap. Whether you’d like to create a single-file executable for web download, or burn it to a CD/DVD data disc, it just takes a few clicks. You can even choose to publish to an ISO disc image, or build straight to a hard drive folder for packing up into a setup.exe with your favorite installer tool, like Setup Factory.

Introducing Setup Factory 8

Setup Factory 8 is the result of over 15 years of experience creating software installation tools. Unlike installer builders that leave you scratching your head, Setup Factory is fast and easy to use. Simply drag and drop files and folders onto the project window and you’re ready to build. Imagine a rock-solid installer that works on any version of Windows from 95 through XP, Vista, Windows 7 (and beyond) in just a few minutes.
Project Wizard

When you start a new project, Setup Factory’s project wizard walks you through the first few steps of project creation. After gathering some key information about your application the project wizard generates a complete working project.
Clean, Straightforward Interface

Setup Factory keeps things simple. The main screen contains an intuitive list view of the files and folders that will be included in your installer. The task bar along the side provides quick access to all of Setup Factory’s features.
Adding Files

Setup Factory makes it easy to add files to your project. You can add them recursively or just drag and drop them onto the file list from Windows.
File Properties

Editing the installation settings for a file is as easy as double-clicking the file in the file list.
Folder References

Folder references are similar to files, but they reference a folder on your system instead of a single file. They’re useful for including folders full of files without having to reference each file individually.
Creating Shortcuts

Create shortcuts on the Desktop, Start Menu or anywhere else without any scripting.
Advanced File Settings

Many advanced installation tasks such as registering COM components and fonts are made simple.
File Conditions

Conditionally include or exclude a file from the installer at build time or run time.
Packages

Applications can often contain a series of optional components that extend the functionality of the main application. Since these components are not always required, it’s often desirable to allow the user the choice of what components they would like to install.
Screen Gallery

Setup Factory ships with many different kinds of pre-made screens that you can add to your projects.
Screen Manager

The screen manager allows you to add, remove, edit and re-order your installer’s screens. This gives you full control over the user interface and flow of your setup.
Themes

Choose from dozens of built-in themes (skins) for your installers or create your own using your favorite images. You can easily configure everything from fonts and banner images to background graphics, control colors and more.
Screen Properties

Every screen has unique settings and attributes that can be customized. All screens dynamically adjust their layout as you edit the screen’s controls and text. The language selector allows you to perform in-place translation of the screen’s text.
Screen Events

Go behind the scenes and modify the built-in functionality of any screen. Each screen provides a number of events where you can create intelligent scripted responses to everything from clicking ‘Next’ to any other message fired by a user interface control.
Extensive Action Library

You get a built-in library of 300+ actions, allowing you to leverage powerful functionality without having to do any programming. There are actions to handle everything from text file editing to system registry changes. You can execute programs, call DLL functions, query drive information, manipulate strings, copy files, start and stop services, interact with web scripts, display dialog boxes and much more. Simply choose the action you want from a categorized list, fill in the requested information fields and the wizard does the rest.
Powerful Scripting Engine

Setup Factory includes an incredibly powerful free-form scripting engine. Based on the popular Lua language, this easy to understand scripting language features everything from ‘for, repeat and while’ loops, to ‘if/else’ conditions, functions, variables and tables (associative arrays). The integrated script editor features color syntax highlighting, code completion, function highlighting, as-you-type action prototypes, Ctrl+Space function listings and even context-sensitive help.
Plug-ins

Setup Factory can be easily expanded with Action Plugins. These plugin modules can extend the product in powerful ways. Tight integration with the design environment makes them just as easy to use as built-in actions. Plugins are available through Indigo Rose as well as third-party developers thanks to Indigo Rose’s freely available plugin development kit.
Fully Configurable Uninstaller

The task of removing your application from a user’s system is easy to configure, and in many cases, works with little to no involvement on your part. But it can also be customized to handle any situation. In fact, just like the installer, the uninstaller has its own startup and shutdown actions, screens and events.
Language Support

Setup Factory offers unsurpassed support for multilingual installations right out of the box. Installers created with Setup Factory can automatically determine the language of the client operating system and adjust the display of screens and messages appropriately. Whether you need to support English, French, German, Spanish, Italian or any other language recognized by Windows, with Setup Factory you simply provide the text and your installer takes care of the rest!
Serial Numbers

Using Setup Factory’s powerful serial number generator you can quickly create thousands of unique serial numbers, which are stored internally as secure MD5 hashes. Hidden from prying eyes, your installer data is compressed using proprietary algorithms and only accessible to those users who supply a valid serial number. Of course, if you’d rather do it yourself, Setup Factory is flexible enough to support your own custom validation and authorization schemes.
Expiration

Your installer can be made to expire at a specific or relative date, or after a specific number of installations per system.
System Requirements

You can easily enforce system requirements in just few clicks. Built-in checks include operating system, memory, screen resolution, color depth and administrator privileges. If the user’s system does not meet or exceed the minimum requirements you have chosen, the installer can either warn the user or abort the setup process entirely.
Runtime Dependencies

As well as checking system minimums you can add runtime detection and installation for many popular third-party technologies, including .NET, Visual Basic, DCOM, JET, MDAC, Visual C++ and more. Additional dependency modules are easy to create and integrate seamlessly into the development environment. You have complete control over the detection and installation of each module, so you can easily adjust the behavior to suit your needs.
Background Window

You can optionally have a full-screen background window for your installer which will display product information or even your own custom images.
Install Logging

Log files can be created during installation and uninstallation to assist in debugging and auditing setups.
Build Settings

Setup Factory lets you set up multiple ‘build configurations’ that you can assign files, folders, and serial numbers to throughout your project. You can then switch between the different configurations whenever you generate the setup. With the built-in publishing wizard, Setup Factory makes building your project a pleasure, not a chore.

Introducing TrueUpdate 3.5

TrueUpdate 3.5 provides a unique client/server framework for determining required updates, and then retrieving and applying the necessary patch or installation files using standard Internet or LAN protocols. And it all can be integrated quickly and easily into existing software products and networks, regardless of the installation, patching or deployment solutions being used.
Clean, Efficient Interface

TrueUpdate 3.5 sports a sophisticated, streamlined interface. Although software updates can be notoriously complex, TrueUpdate’s straightforward interface makes it seem easy.
Powerful Scripting Engine

The highlight of TrueUpdate is its incredibly powerful scripting engine. Based on the popular Lua language, it is easy to understand and features everything from ‘for, repeat and while’ loops, to ‘if/else’ conditions, functions, variables, and associative arrays. The integrated script editor features color syntax highlighting, code completion, function highlighting, as-you-type action prototypes, Ctrl+Space function listings, and context-sensitive help.
Project Wizard

Although TrueUpdate is designed with a wide-open, “sky is the limit” scripted architecture, it doesn’t leave you stranded with no roadmap. Far from it! The project wizard makes setting up your update process simple and straightforward. Even advanced update systems can be created in minutes with this fast and flexible productivity tool.
Client Script

The client behaviour is fully scripted, so you can customize your client to do anything you want it to. In most cases, the client’s job is simply to retrieve and then execute a server script – either across the Internet or over a local network.
Server Script

The server-side logic is also fully scripted. In fact, the server script can handle everything from detecting what version is currently installed (and acting accordingly), to downloading files and making changes on the client system. And you can completely change all of this behavior at any time without needing to send a new client to your users.
Custom Script Tabs

You can add custom script tabs into your project to keep things organized. At run time, each tab’s script can be executed on demand.
Screen Gallery

TrueUpdate ships with many different screen types that you can use to create a visible interface for your client. These fully modifiable screens not only let you customize the interface, but let you add functionality in a modular “point and click” way.
Themes

Choose from dozens of built-in themes (skins) for your client interface or create your own using your favorite images.

Screen Lists

Organize your screens into named lists that you can display from script with a single command. Easily add, remove, edit and re-order the screens within these lists to control the user interface and flow of your update without any scripting.
Screen Events

Go behind the scenes and modify the built-in functionality of any screen. Each screen provides a number of events where you can create intelligent scripted responses to everything from clicking ‘Next’ to any other message fired by a user interface control.
Action Library

TrueUpdate comes well equipped, with a built-in library of 250+ actions to handle everything from text file editing to system registry changes. You can execute programs, call DLL functions, query drive information, manipulate strings, copy files, start and stop services, interact with web scripts, display dialog boxes, and much more. Simply choose the action you want from a categorized list, fill in the requested information fields and the wizard does the rest.
Redundant Servers

TrueUpdate’s approach to handling redundancy is straightforward: simply add more server locations to the list, and upload the configuration files to those locations. Any existing server that can host files via HTTP, HTTPS, FTP or local file copy will do. If a server is unavailable for any reason, the TrueUpdate client will move on to the next one until it can establish a connection and download the configuration files.
Upload Locations

TrueUpdate can automatically upload its data files to your server locations, including “alternate” locations such as a backup file server or a folder on your network for testing. In fact, you can choose which servers you want to publish to each time you build the project. This makes it easy to test your updates in a private “live” test before making them public. TrueUpdate’s intelligent synchronization system keeps a manifest for each server location and will only upload the files that have changed, minimizing bandwidth costs while ensuring data integrity across your servers.
Language Support

Unsurpassed support for multilingual interfaces is included right out of the box. TrueUpdate can automatically determine the language of the client operating system and adjust the display of screens and messages appropriately. Whether you need to support English, French, German, Spanish, Italian or any other language recognized by Windows, with TrueUpdate you simply provide the text and your update takes care of the rest!
Comprehensive Help and Support

TrueUpdate comes fully supported. Self-help options include a professionally written 267-page user’s guide, and an embedded help pane for instant “as-you-type” context-sensitive help. Additional support options range from our active online forums, to our refreshingly personal technical support. Indigo Rose has been developing software tools for over 15 years and we understand what it takes to fully support a product. We not only stand behind our software, we stand behind you with one of the most accessible, responsive and knowledgeable technical support teams in the industry.
