    Autorun and XP

I'm trying to get an AMS project to autorun on a JumpDrive. Autorun.inf files are not supported under Windows XP for drives that return DRIVE_REMOVABLE from GetDriveType. Does anybody know a workaround for this? Thanks.

Here’s a link to check out. Looks like you need an Action Key in the Autorun.ini file.

Add-ons for AMS. Toolbar Buttons Galore, System Animations, the Window Construction Kit, and more.

Nice find. I've wondered about that myself.

Looks like that's going to do it. I'm at work with WinXP SP1 and it at least opens the jumpdrive in a window at root vs. a prompt for what to open it with. The link you posted mentions that SP2 will be needed, so I'll give it a try at home this evening. In the meantime, if anyone is using XP with SP2 wants to give it a try the info would be much appreciated. Thanks Jim... and bravo on your buttons collection. My wife ordered it for me a few days ago (yes, she's a keeper!) and I'm getting a lot of use out of it.

Sorry, but I still have SP1 installed on my machine so I can’t give it a try. When I read the word Jump drive in your post, and noticed your ‘location’, I thought it might be you.
It’s quite pleasing to hear that you are happy with the collections. I’m a lucky guy, as I also just received a nice email from Scott F. too. It’s users like you two that make me very happy I took the effort in developing them. Thanks a lot guys.

P.S. I wished I could find a gal that would even look at a computer. Finding one that would actually use one to buy me computer goodies, is more than I dare wish. Looks like you’re the one with the ‘good find’.

I've learned to step-away from the computer more often as the years go by, but my wife will swear she dated the back of my head for the first few years we were together! Thank God she puts up with me.

Ah, yes! I too have one of those lovely miniature calendars hanging from the back of my head. It must be a QVC(TV shopping network) thing?

    Autoplay

Microsoft released Microsoft USB Flash Drive Manager that is a USB pen drive utility that creates an autoplay partition. It is part of their Partner Pack and I THINK it can now be downloaded separately. Try
    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/partnerpack/
You can just choose a custom install and get the utility.
You need .net and XP SP/2, but it works pretty good if the user hasn't fooled with thier system settings too much from default.
Here is a small FREE autorun.ini editor. I can't remember where I got it so I can't post a link.
    Hope this helps!

Great! That may help quite a bit. I'm at work (again... gov't PC w/out SP2) so I'll check it out over the weekend at home. Thanks.
