Forum doesn't track history properly for me.

Anyone else noticed this? The forum doesn't track my usage accurately, I use the emboldened titles as a quick way of scanning for new posts but some threads stubbornly stay bold unless I use the "Mark Forum read" tool.

I keep wondering to myself why it irritates me so much but haven't come up with the answer yet - it just does....

longedge, I find that this only happens when I click on a 'subscribed thread' email link. If you close your browser, then come back to IR forums, this problem goes away. Still a little weird though, you are correct. It must be a php "session" thing. Something missing in the cookie info from an email.

    Yes..irratating.

I believe that it only marks threads "read" every 15 mins or so.

No sir, if you come from an email link, it will eventually mark (maybe your 15 minute timeout), you're correct. But, when you come straight to the forum via favorites or whatever, the read is instantanious. Not a big deal, just weird if you don't know what's going on.

Most of the time I find a thread is marked as read (unemboldened) after I've looked at it. Every now and again I get one that just stays unread. It can't just be a cookie thing but I don't get why it's so inconsistent -

I have found that the best way to browse these forums on a daily basis is to click the "New Posts" link at the top and read them that way. Then when I have read what I want to read, I select "Quick Links > Mark Forums Read"

This seems to work well for me.
