Bah. The studies they do to derive those statistics are ridiculously flawed. Don't believe any of these recently inflated statistics.

How could any educated human believe that we are *suddenly* discovering that 20% of humans have this disease or that syndrome, after millions of years of existence? It's so ludicrous I can barely type this sentence.

The state of overdiagnosis of dyslexia, ADHD, etc. is insane. I can't believe parents allow it...

It's amazing how you see a 55% increase in diagnosed "learning disabilities" (includes dyslexia) in children in NYC from 1983 to 1996, the same period during which the profits of pharmaceutical companies SKYROCKETED.

HEEHEE! Prior to 1983 we were just walking around hopelessly for millions of years, yet since the advent of pharmaceuticals there has never been a less creative period of development in human history. Many experts argue we are de-evolving at this point.

Hee! Anyhow suffice to say dyslexia is nowhere near as common as the media claims nor are any of those other conditions. It's perfectly normal for kids to be a bit hyper, disinterested in exams, and not all that jazzed up about honing their reading skills. Yet for some reason all researchers ignore that completely when designing their tests, and obviously the media couldn't care less about the veracity of their content, they just need filler. So...
