    Big Fat Crayola Scrolly Bar...?

    Hi Gang,

...Working on a touch-screen app where all the buttons are nice-and-big, also using ListBox to display some selectable items. There's enough of a list that vertical scroll is enabled.

Assuming I stick with the list box (instead of switching to a web object), how might I be able to swap out or customize the scroll bar graphic?

Yes you can design your own scrollbars. Check out the AMS5 SDK (software developer’s kit)

just go to your "autplay dir\Plugins\Scrollbars" and chec out how the images are created. It's easier than the SDK way.

    Hope it helps

Can you change the scroll bar for the listbox? I know you can do it for the pargraph object but I don't think for the listbox. I might be wrong, I hope I am because I too am building a touch screen kiosk app and would love to change the scroll bar.

Dermot, I’m glad that at least one of us is paying attention. You and sferguson are speaking of the scrollbar for the listbox object. As you pointed out, I was thinking of the scrollbar for the paragraph object. I don’t think the SDK will help with that one.

Sorry that I can’t be of any help on the ‘real’ question you two are after. Any answer will be well beyond my means. Good luck, I’ll be watching for an answer also. I wonder if they change at all depending on the Desktop Theme the user is using?

Hmmmm.... Thanks for the thoughts fellas. I'll explore the "autplay dir\Plugins\Scrollbars" angle and see where it leads

Well, I certainly see what Josué was pointing out. ...And, unforntunately, I also see what JimS and Dermot were saying about "listbox object" vs. "paragraph object".

I don't mind digging my heals into Zen and the art of the SDK Way, but before embarking on even the most spiritually enlightening project detour it seems prudent and timely to ask the Sherpas at IR "how's the view".

So, in the spirit of making forward progress - can anyone "officially confirm or deny" the ability to mod the scroll bar for listbox objects?

There is no way to modify the ListBox object scrollbars. They are drawn by the OS. Common controls like that are designed to pick up the look of the system. That is not to say that we can't look into making a custom ListBox object as a plugin or for a future release... just teasing.

Yeah but how about yout paragraph object to pick up windows style scrollbar based on the windows theme.

It's not that much thing of a special designed scrollbar, but to have the same style on all objects (paragraph, listbox and combobox).
Never know what life is gonna throw at you.
