    Star Kids Coloring Book

Does any one have an idea on how to make a very simple coloring page?

Here's what I have in mind:

I made a little story book for my kids that they can navigate it and see the drawings and such...
Now I would like to have at the end of the story a page with one or two frame drawings that they could choose and they could color that drawing. No need to browse for an image.

I thought I could devide the drawing in parts and once the user chooses that part of the drawing the part will be visible and filled with the specific color or image (like grass, sky,...) that was peviously chosen and loaded on a variable of some sort.

    What do you think?

Sounds like a job for a Flash object. Flash MX 2004 has provisions for drawing. If you check around Google, I know there are several pre-built drawing apps out there for free download, i.e. Flashkit.com, etc.

Javascript may be another option but I'd go with Flash. Essentially whatever you use, it will need some sort of drawing API.

In order to do this in AMS native the best you could do is hide a bunch of images for the colored sections and then show them as per the users input, i.e. if they have the "red tool" selected, you would show the red layer within a click area, etc... Hope that helps.

Too bad.... I was thinking that I could use only AMS running from the CD so the kids don't have to think about what the app. is asking to install, etc...

I saw that there is couple things on the net using HTML or dHTML.

    Any comments on that?

I also don't own Flash and I'm not sure if I want to spend that kind on money.... Do you know any other free app tha could build flash and it is a freeware/ shareware?

What I found on flashkit.com that could do that kind of thing was closer to what I would pay to get a copy of the real thing!!!
