Anybody had success burning to DVD

This is the first time I've not been able to 'shoehorn' my project onto a CD and I'm making coasters at the moment. Before I get through all my DVD blanks, can anyone tell me the secret to burning DVD's successfully.

I've saved my project out to a folder on my hard drive (just over 4.0 GB) and am then trying to burn it to DVD using Nero6. Every time I get a failed to verify error and then when I look at what's on the DVD everything seems OK except for autorun.exe.

Any ideas anyone?

Have you checked to see if there is an update for your DVDR's firmware?.

I come accross this problem on a regular basis.
I do computer engineering and peole are always calling about DVD writing failing.

I suggest you check the manufacturer for an update or change the media you are using.

Or another solution is to just drag and drop the files onto the DVD Disc through windows "XP" only I think.

Thanks for that Ian, I'll look into those possibilities. I'm also going to try a multisession approach and burn the autorun stuff first then the autoplay folder second. The other thing I need to try when I'm next at work is a burn on a better drive (mine is only a combo drive - single speed DVD).

It was odd that each time I tried it was the runtime exe that didn't burn. I wondered if there was some significance in that.

Has anybody succesfully burnt a project to DVD?

I've managed it now but there are three possible causes (at least).

1. File Size. I re-encoded my video from mpeg2 (dvd compliant) to mpeg1 with TMPGEnc bringing the file size down from 4GB to 1GB. I haven't used this app for a long time, but the latest version is really good and fast as well.
2. I noticed that the Autoplay folder had partial read only attribs set. I cleared all the read only flags.
3. I disabled all other apps and power saving settings.

The upshot is that it has built succesfully to a dvd and it works.

Native XP drag and drop burning doesn't work on DVD's as far as I can see. I got an error message each time I tried although the OS did see the blank DVD as writeable media.
