How's this for Canadian?

My family and I were driving home from the cottage yesterday and saw this old guy at the side of the highway standing there with a piece of garden hose. As we passed him I saw a small critter by him. It turns out it was a beaver that he almost hit. The kids and I jumped out of the van (I stopped first) and I took a few pictures. I have never been that close to a beaver before. Very cool experience. One of the pictures has my son in it. He doesn't really trust the beaver as you can see...

The old guy ended up grabbing the beaver with the piece of hose and driving it to a nearby creek that has a lot of beavers around. This is why I always keep my digital camera with me...

Actually if you look way off in the distance in photo 0 you will see that there is another car there...plus these photos were taken off in cottage country.

I didn't get pictures to show but I saw:

- 1 Bald Eagle
- 2 Falcons
- 1 Lake trout

1 dead boat in the middle of a lake.. we had some mechanical failures this weekend and ended up stranded on a virtually empty lake at dusk without a working motor. Luckily some fishermen from Minnesota came by on their way back to their dock, they pulled us in with a 35hp motor running on fumes.. great guys.. saved us a 6 hour paddle at night.

I was at Crow Lake in western Ontario. Very beautiful area

Funny stuff...

My wife has befriended a racoon. The racoon eats not only bread and peanuts (we use a mix for the birds), but also cookies of all things. She has given birth to a few pups and sure enough... once in a while they come up and get some cookies too.

That's just half of the animal kingdom we have trotting around our house.

I must admit... it's relaxing to watch the different (animules, wife calls them) do there daily rituals. What's more... they probable are saying the same about us humans. (grin).

So there is Mark - ran it through the image enhancement package on my CRAY and I was surprised at the result. He was obviously on his way to investigate that really big log waiting to be felled nearby
