Come one, came all... well, eight at least.

    Hello all-
Just wanted to throw out an invitation to all how are interested. I am running a Ventrilo server which allows us up to eight slots to join in on some great conversation like… AMS, our latest project, the weather and… stuff.

Simply download the client here (free). It’s very easy to set-up. You will need a mic of some sort, a boom mic is best, like yours Corey.
I’ll attempt to keep it running as long as possible during the day. I am in the US on the west coast so that should give you an idea of the “Time” here.
If you do join in please use your AMS screen name. Oh, if you do jump on and no one is around, hang in there it won’t be long before someone else jumps in.

    The server IP is: 127.0.0.1
    Port: 3784
    Password is: ams

Hey neat. If I wasn't so swamped I'd be in there right now. BTW just so you know a "boom mic" is those ones that are on the end of a long pole, like they use in movies and TV shows. Typically these are large mics. The type I use is a "lavalier" ("headset") microphone, but I know that's what you meant...

Although I've got a couple professional large diaphragm mics here too for recording music, here's the mic I use for computer stuff, it's cheap too:

Actually, that's not true. A lavalier microphone is a small, usually omnidirectional, microphone that is mounted on a person's chest area. The kind we use are the Tram TR-50, which attach to Lectrosonics wireless transmitters. But there are plenty of wired varieties which do well.

Headset mics are, well, headset mics.

Ah yes, I stand corrected, a lavalier mic is indeed a lapel mic. Thanks for the correction.

Just wanted to throw out the invite again, I understand if IR doesn't RVSP. The server is up most the time and allows anyone to hook up and shoot the bull. There are slots for eight people so don't be a stranger.

Ventrillo is a pretty neat little program. The Planetside outfit I play with used it for a while, but then went back to TeamSpeak, which is another excellent program of the same ilk. There are nights when the TS server has over 120 people on it at once, and the quality is much better than your average cell phone (all depends on who's doing the talking...some people have really crappy microphones ).
