    Flash executable

My next problem has is about Flash..

I have been given two flash files to use, one is a stand alone executable, the other is referenced in an html document. The original design was a Flash standalone application for distribution on CD. We would like to add some other files, which can be accessed independently and be able to play the Flash file as well. Autoplay Menu Studio seemed like a good way to do this. I created a mask of a computer screen and I would like the Flash application to play within this boundary (it has been make to the size of the Flash application.)

First I tried the swf file (associated with the html), this plays well and looks great inside the menu, however, it has links to some PDF files and videos, because the swf file is built with the html in mind it tries to open the PDFs in the computer’s browser and cannot find the reference, the videos play fine for some reason (I have had a look at the scripts with a Flash decompiler and both the PDF buttons and the video buttons use the same reference path?). Therefore I tried using a Web Object, this works but the PDFs open inside the web object, and this has two issues, they are small and cannot be made larger, plus the menu is non rectangular.

I can reference the Flash executable but it insists on opening outside the menu, normal I guess as it is a stand alone application. The executable’s links open the PDFs in the Acrobat viewer. This works OK and will probably be what we use, but it would be really good to have it open inside the menu.

The obvious answer it to change the swf file, however, I did not create the swf file and do not have the original files. I have asked to see if we can get them but…

So to my question, is there a way to make the executable Flash file play within the menu?

I have another idea, if I place the swf, html and PDF files in the root directory of the CD and referenced them from the menu? I don’t have it in front of me right now, but I guess I need to look at the reference where the browser is trying to find the PDFs and placing them in the right place?

Unfortunately, I think the answer is no. Executable files run in their own environment, and therefore don't want to be flexible about running in someone else's.
