    CD-Rom Emulator

    I don't know if anyone else has ever used CD-ROM Emulator from Paragon, but I loaded it up for the first time yesterday and it's the coolest thing.

    My kids want to play their games all the time, but as little as they are, I'm not comfortable with them handling the CDs, let alone playing around with the CD-ROM drive (visions of peanut butter sandwich's smashed into cute little round circles stuck in the drive).

    Anyhow, it's very cool. Let's you rip the CD to your hard drive, mount it on a virtual drive, and from that point, no more need for the CD. It has some other cool features too that let you burn a back up from the image, etc..

    If anyone else is looking for something like this, I highly recommend this one. Paragon's WebSite

    BTW, their Hard Drive Manager tool is a must have. It's about the only utility that I know of that will work on a 95-Server 2003 drive. Whether it's a Fat16, Fat32, NTFS, or even on a Dynamic NTFS drive.

    As far as I'm concerned, anyone that tiny who makes a correlation between the shape of a peanut butter sandwich and a CD Drive, and then takes their theory "to the lab" as it were and jams the sandwich into the drive, deserves a medal. That's *top rate* theorization and research for someone who can't even read. I admire that sort of motivation, and I applaud the innovation. As a matter of fact, a round of cookies, on me...

    I have been holding off trying this program out.

    Thank you for posting your results with this program.

    I did (until recently) play another game online and I did use a NO-CD program for such and that worked very nicely, and the game ran smoother do to no accessing of the CD-ROM.

    Test your AMS5 MyBrilliantApp.ISO using this little sucker..

    Readme for Virtual CD-ROM Control Panel v2.0.1.1

    THIS TOOL IS UNSUPPORT BY MICROSOFT PRODUCT SUPPORT SERVICES

    System Requirements
    ===================
    - Windows XP Home or Windows XP Professional

    Installation instructions
    =========================
    1. Copy VCdRom.sys to your %systemroot%\system32\drivers folder.
    2. Execute VCdControlTool.exe
    3. Click "Driver control"
    4. If the "Install Driver" button is available, click it. Navigate to the %systemroot%\system32\drivers folder, select VCdRom.sys, and click Open.
    5. Click "Start"
    6. Click OK
    7. Click "Add Drive" to add a drive to the drive list. Ensure that the drive added is not a local drive. If it is, continue to click "Add Drive" until an unused drive letter is available.
    8. Select an unused drive letter from the drive list and click "Mount".
    9. Navigate to the image file, select it, and click "OK". UNC naming conventions should not be used, however mapped network drives should be OK.

    You may now use the drive letter as if it were a local CD-ROM device. When you are finished you may unmount, stop, and remove the driver from memory using the driver control.

    Unquote...

    Here's the direct download link. file is only 40kb on disk

    http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...olpanel_21.exe

    I am going to to add to your post by sharing the 'main' page that contains this link:

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/subscripti...q/default.aspx

    Scroll two-thirds the way down the page or there abouts to locate such.

    *I personally had forgotten about this, thank you.

    [Late Edit]

    Take a look at the link above the link for Virtual CD-ROM Control Panel for Windows XP:

    This one >> http://www.daemon-tools.cc/portal/portal.php

    FREE for personal use!
