Thumblist plugin questions

1. Is there a way to populate/manipulate the thumblist table directly rather the populating it using a second table with filepaths? I guess I would need to know the table name and structure

2. When I set the label to "none" it still leaves a clickable white space below the image where the label would be. Anyway of getting rid of this? Problem is when sizing a horizontal list to fit he image you need to make the height even taller than needed to account for the white space or you will get a vertical scrollbar.

A workaround for this would be very intresting. I have the same problem.
