    Grin Snagit 7

I have read that Snagit 7 captures video from screen ... can it capture video from msn messenger/netmeeting?

I thought u couldnt capture video unless video/graphics acceleration was off - but then everything runs real sloooooow and its a major pain.

    opinions anyone?

    This is were HyperSnap-DX shines.

I have never had a problem capturing video.

    It even captures Game video(s).

Good luck with the Snagit though. It almost won my allegiance a few years ago. It's a very nice program too.

I remember once I had a seperate driver on my system (Brooktree) which was a "screen capture driver" and when I would select that from within a program as my input source it would act as a video in. So in other words whatever was on my screen then became the recording source. Other than that I have experimented at time with Techsmith and others, tough scenario to get anything at full frame rate with decent audio.

My only useful suggestion would be to see if one of the many stream capture utilities on the net might do that. I've seen tons of them lately, it used to be only one. Whether or not they'll work is another issue although I wouldn't be surprised if someone has developed a tool to do what you want. A lot of these work as packet snoopers via winpcap so I think they're pretty inclusive in terms of capturing any incoming video data but since I'm completely knowledgeless on that topic I'm not 100% sure...

I might have some info on this here, two questions:

    1. Is this video a stream or a file?
    2. In either case what format is this video data, i.e. rtsp, mms, etc?

Oh yeah, one more idea, I noticed that gamers seem to be able to vidcap from their games nowadays, perhaps that arena has some hot new software solution to offer?

I know a lot of a lot of folks online that use Fraps to capture their in-game video.

Seems to work good from what I have heard.

Maybe this will work for you.

Make sure you download the proper executable (based on you O.S.). The cost is right on target!

Reminds me of the time I shined my shoes up and waxed my hair down for *the big date* only to end up standing outside with a bouquet of wilted pansies for 6 hours. No wait, that was from an Archie comic, not my childhood, but still...
