A question about Setup factory 6 - exe properties

Hi,

I am currently trialing setup factory 6 and generally find it to be a good and easy product to use.
However i do have a question, when I produce the .exe and look at it in windows explorer i notice that the comments and othe rinformation in properties all applys in Indigo Rose. Is there any way to change this .... I have looked int he help and forums and drawn a blank. If this cannot be changed I will have to find another program for this as my customers will not want this.

Humm - This is not good really, I think indigo rose should revisit their thinking on this .... all they are providing is a vehicle to deliver MY software, not the contents of your deployment engine.

My clients certainly would not want the corporate name of indigo rose plastered all over the deployment packages of THEIR software.

I am certain the deployment package in VB does not do this.... so if Microsoft can do it, why can't you?

Thank you for your comments. This topic is currently in our suggestions box for our developers and management to consider in the future. That is really all I can say at this point.

thats a shame because you have a really great product, but for the moment one lost customer.

ps. I wonder how many others are put off purchasing becaus eof this. Having discussed this with other programmers they are much the same opinion as myself.

Is this a big deal? I admit it’s a bit confusing when Explorer is displaying the directory in tile mode. The best solution is to use a specific name for your installer (like “Setup My Program.exe”). The Welcome screen should of course tell the end user what process that will be started. The Setup Factory solution seems to be identical to the Install Shield ® appearance. If vendors like Adobe can accept the file properties of their Install Shield ® Setup Launcher, I can’t see why your client should loose their market position because of Setup Factory.

It is possible to use additional software to “wrap in” the installer in a parcel with only the file name as the property, and with your own icon, but it is worth the strength? (Btw: It should be possible to use your own icon in the Setup Factory output).

Let’s put it in another way: As a SUF designer you can create the complete chaos on the end users machine. But still Indigo Rose sticks their name to your product. Nothing venture, nothing win.

My personal opinion is: Setup Factory does not clutter the end users C: drive like Install Shield ® does. Setup Factory is a real flexible tool to you as the install designer, simple to use when you understand the possibilities. If your client has a useful and well done application, Setup Factory is a good choice for their software deployment.
