    restart windows

Is there a single command line executable that will simply reboot WIN98 thru XP? I think this would be a great feature in a future release (built-in) if not. Any good solutions out there?

I tried looking at "WinShut", but to use it commercially, wants a piece of the action.

    Appreciate any suggestions.

You could make a DLL that calls the Windows API function "ExitWindowsEx" and then call it from AMS40. Maybe Worm is looking for something to do tonight

Thank you Brett I was just thinking of Worm. I'm sure there's a bunch of "if" statements that can be performed, but I was hoping that Worm would come to this rescue with one of his famous dll's. Heck, I may even pay him for his research/solution!! Not sucking up here, but he has saved my _ss on several occasions already!

Worm! I'm not worthy, but if you could be so kind!? Don't take this lightly...you should be a partner developer for IR!! Not a suggestion or a referral, but a humble opinion. I've learned much through your .dll downloads alone.

    Patiently, I wait.

We would be happy to integrate and market plug-ins, add-ons, and the like for Worm any time... Soon we will have a "plug-in marketplace" here and we hope very much that Worm will be part of that in a big way...

Like I said earlier, there have been many times that I've searched this forum and found what I was looking for and Worm has been a major part of my findings, and even though I find it in a past post - I never really come back and simply say thanks. Once again, I'm not trying to influence or "suck up" as it were, for my current dilemma; if I don't find the solution - no big deal! I'd just like to say thanks for the "problem solvers" like Worm and all the great people here. I mean that.

The software is awesome, the support is by far the best I've come across in years, and this community is second to none! I don't know how you guys do it, but please...keep it up!! This program has more potential than people realize. My head won't stop spinning with ideas.

    Sincerely!

The "how we do it" FYI is very simple. We are run by a single person who has an intrinsic commitment to quality. After that, it's all downhill...

As far as I can see the only companies on earth which do provide good value are exact same, it's the only formula for quality that exists, i.e. unless someone is willing to priortize service above profit it can't happen and no publicly owned company would ever do that in a zillion years. It might even be actionable with the SEC in most cases, i.e. "illegal" for a publicly traded company to prioritize "service" above profit.

Small software companies may be the final bastion of quality there is. Certainly it ain't Walmart or Pepsi. And I've worked in a lot of places and I can tell you that no one in the schools, ISPs, or web design companies will lose any sleep tonight over the fact if you aren't receiving %100 value for your dollar when buying their services...

Well Corey, I realize that you're a top spokesman for the company and (as it should be), you do a great job as well. There are obviously others that I've failed to mention, but believe you me, my sincere acclaims go out to them also! I'm just in a congratulatory mood this evening and since I've been working with this program, it's opening new doors for me and I can't say enough about what it does.

    prioritize "service" above profit
Not lately in my recent associations! If you all just keep on doing what you're doing, you will be the epitome of a "model" company and what it should be with regards to your support and absolute concern for the quality that you mentioned. Not that I don't think that now. But, you know as well as I do that once a biz or Co gets what it wants/needs (whatever that may be), the concern for the cutomer goes downhill rapidly. Don't fall into that trap! I don't see signs of it whatsoever, but keep it up!

Here ya go... This should detect whether it is Win9x or NT and set the appropriate permisions for shutdown. I don't have a 98 box to test on here at home, but it should work.

Thanks for the kind words Rhosk. Truth be told, most of the DLLs I write are really nothing to grand. The bottom line is that they are usually helpful which is a good thing.

I've written utility after utility, and these DLLs are merely that. A small util, that serves a small purpose, in a large scheme. AMS and IR are the hereos here, without it/them, a small fry guy like me couldn't share the little bit of skill I have.

At current there are no plans to do anything other in the future than exactly what we are currently doing. As far as I can tell we are just getting started really, over the next year you won't believe how much killer new stuff will be coming online here. 2003 was all about laying a broader, stronger foundation, whereas 2004 will be all about releasing tons of cool new stuff and expanding our user base...

Very modest of you Worm, as usual. I have a 98 box as well and I'll check in the AM Thanks yet again! Can't say it enough around here - there's no words.

I think everyone here admires Worm's modesty, even Ted Sellers...
