Help Searching Directories

Hi, Im new on Setup Factory and I have found this forum really usefull in learning SP6 stuff, but I need you help cause I haven't founf the answer yet.

the aplication need to be instaled in deferent lenguase Windows, to be more exact on Spanish and English Info, in Spanish the programs install in "Archivos de Programas" ans on english on "program files", but I have found that some users isntall the programs in the Spanich Windows using "programs files"

so the question is

How can I make the programs to search if the Program is Installer on "program files" or "archivos de programas" before installing the update?

you could have the installer create a registry entry, recording which dir the user chose to install to

also, i believe there is a variable for the Program File directory, i imagine it would work appropriately on all systems languages, so you could just make the program install to that detected directory by default..

just so that i don't have to worry about which directory a patch is being applied to, i usually just uninstall the previous version, and then install the new one, again letting the user choose where they want to install.. but if you have files/settings that the user configured, they might get deleted during the uninstall

thx for the help, I will use the Registry for futures instalation.

the problem is that the original instaltion programs was another program but nor SP6 and what Im accually instaling is and Update, so in 80% of the cases the programs in on the correct lenguages program files, but there are cases the are not and I need to find it up, if there a sear parameter
