How do I set up a desktop folder?

In my installation, I need to create a desktop folder with shortcut icons in it. Any ideas on how to do this?

Use a Folder -> Create action and put %DesktopNT%\name for NT based machines or %Desktop%\name for non NT machines.

If you want to add a shortcut to this folder you can use %DesktopNT%\name as the folder name and as long as the first action worked then you will be able to add shortcuts to this folder.

Did that and it works - BUT, the folder doesn't show up on the desktop until I do a manual refresh? How do I get it to refresh as part of the install?

I don't think that I have ever run into this behavior before, so the first step would be to try to replicate it on our end. Therefore I have a few questions for you:

1) What version and full build number of Setup Factory are you using?

2) What OS are you experiencing this behavior on?

3) Do you have any custom desktop settings on the test machine?

Of course there are a bunch of Windows configurations that may effect this, so if anyone else has any information, it's certainly welcome.

Using 6.0.1.2 - Windows XP - no custom desktop settings. Do You want me to send you my files?

Sure send your project file (.sf6) to support@indigorose.com and we'll run a quick test with your actions. You may want to just create a small sample project file with only the shortcut and folder creation that you are using. We'll then go from there.
