How do I package this?

Here's what I need to do. Our product is going to be installed on a server by a network admin person, with access to the data by however many Multi-user licenses were purchased.

1. Install "The Product" (a collection of pdf documents protected by SF5's security and wrapped up in a setup.exe pkg).

2. Install Acrobat Reader on the server

3. Install a Setup Factory 5 pkg which contains Adobe's install pkge for Acrobat Reader with Search (rs405.eng.exe) INSIDE it. We'll call it "wssetup.exe" because it is what the admin wants to click on to install acrobat on their users' workstations.

Can this be done? One installer (Adobe's) inside of another (SF5's)? Then I can have a shortcut on the admin's desktop to do the other installs.

I'd want the acrobat installer to be an option.

Any ideas? In novice terms, please.

Hi,

Yes it is possible to have one installation inside of a Setup Factory installation.

I'm not exactly sure what it is that you want to do, but basically you could simply add your installations to a wrapper Setup Factory installation. There they would act just like other files, so you could install them and launch them with no problems.

Have you tried accomplishing this using Setup Factory? If so please inform me if you are still experiencing problems and I will try to further assist you.

Hi Mark,

I have successfully created a "wssetup.exe" which simply wraps up the Acrobat Reader install within it, but maintains the screen look and feel of our product on opening and closing. Then I put this wssetup file within my main setup package which installs the documents, etc.

When the network admin person installs the product on a server, the wssetup.exe becomes available for them to use as an Acrobat Reader installer on users' machines.
