Hi,
We are using version 8.1.1008 and we seem to have some problems with the "Require administrator" setting.
In short it seems that it does not always work! That sometimes people actually get to run our setup.exe without administyrtive priviledges.
In short we think this settings ought to work like this
a) If user is not member of administrators group he is either denied access to run the setup, or propmted for username and password. And then allowed to run as the new user with elevated rights. Frankly, in this case we don't if the user is prompted or outright denied access.
b) If user is member of administrators group he is forced to run with elevated rights - maybe asked if he wants to, but if he answers no not allowed to run the setup.
But we see cases of (b) where we try to write HKLM registry keys, and it anyway ends up in some HKEY_USER\VirtualStore !!
Is this a known problem, maybe fixed in 9.0 or a later version of 8.0? Or is it an unknown problem?
Best regards,
Hans Olav Nymand
