Thread: Uninstall SUF 7.0 crashes on newer versions of Windows XP Pro, Windows 7 etc.

We are updating one of our products, and are running an uninstall prior install. The original installer/uninstaller dates back to SUF 7.0.

The uninstall.exe crashes with an exception immediately on launch. This was tested extensively, so I know it used to work with the versions available then.

Replacing the uninstall.exe does not remove the issue. Any ideas apart from a brute force script to remove the old product?

Some more digging showed that there was no uninstall issue with the current version of the OSs, and a freshly installed version of the old software after the registry was manually cleaned, and all remnants of previous installs removed.

The problem occurs, if this version is installed after newer versions based on Setup 8 and/or 9 are installed & removed.
