You will find it hard to find a hi spec laptops anymore man they now they with around 2 to 3 gig ram and 160 to 250 gig hdd and really bad gfx and around 2.0 + cpu, this is still good spec but all they not ram is not matched so its not going to make your cpu work as good as it should, my laptop is also no long sold but its way older then that mine is a dualcore amd 1.7 but 1 gig ram, 80 gig hdd BUT this system now is dualcore 1.7 4 gig 1 200 gig and 1 300 gig hdd thank god this was a dual hdd laptop, but the upgrade makes it run then most h spec laptops sold.

That is models go our of date fast but if there upgradeable then they are great and for 140 well I was not going to cry lol and the spares came from older laptops.

All computers are around 4 years old in there tech before there even giving out to the public so we all get out of date tech but wow you paid 700 got a AMD core2 duo 2.2 4 gig ram 300 gig hdd Packhardbell standard GFX as i got it for programming but I only paid £300 and it droped in price the day after to around £250 not happed there lol and that laptop is about 2 years old.

It's true that laptops go out of date quite quickly, I'm on a MacBook Pro at the moment which I now use after my Acer Aspire 7720G's DC jack broke and the resoldering didn't fix it.

I got my old Acer from PC World for £380 or so, great deal for a 17'' (1440x900), 2GHz Core 2 Duo with 3GB RAM, NVIDIA 9300M G 256MB and BluRay reader drive.

My current laptop, the MacBook Pro is an old 2008 model, 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo with 3GB RAM. I'm not a fan of OS X and Windows doesn't run well on it at all (XP is slow, 7 gives random BSODs) so I really wish my acer just suddenly starts working one day.

In my 20 years of experience in computers I learned that if you buy a good machine today, even if you pay it a lot of money, it's life will be very long.

For example, in 2006 I bought my Dell Inspiron 9600 with 4GB of RAM DDR2 at 996 Mhz, HD 240 GB 7200 rpm, a 17"" 16/10 fantastic display at 1920x1200, Intel Centrino Duo 2,40 Ghz, ATI Mobility Radeon with 1 GB dedicated memory, DVD DVD±RW with Double Layer Support, 6 USB slots, 1 Firewire, 1 multiple card reader, 3 types of video outputs, WiFi, LAN, Bluetooth, 4 speakers+1 sub-woofer, and the Media Direct so I can play music and video without the need to boot the OS.

In 2006 I paid this machine about 3,600 Euros. It was very probably the most powerful laptop on the market at that time and I have to say that all my friends and collegues, even today, after 5 years, remain astonished when watching the power and the beauty of this machine that doesn't demonstrate to be 5 years old.

As all other investiments in machines, the more you pay, the more lifetime you get.

A Rolls Royce, a Ferrari or a Lamborghini are always actual and competitive even if they are 20 or 30 years old.
