Flash failure on some 64-bit Win7 machines

On just some Win7 64-bit machines, an embedded Flash is replaced by a message that a Flash Player is not installed.

On termination of the program, we get the expected Windows message: "This program requires a missing Windows component."

We understand that Adobe hasn't yet released a 64-bit Flash.

What surprises us is that on many 64-bit Win7 machines, it works, but not others.

Is there a reliable way to detect if it's going to fail?

Any other suggestions on dealing with this problem?

How detect if Flash is installed

Is there a recommended way to detect whether Flash is installed?

Our programmer apparently is using a registry entry to detect whether it's there or not.

Is there a better, more reliable mechanism recommended?

As far as I know, every valid Flash installation also has it's key in registry,
set on setup, so I believe it's a reliable way. The detect plugin for Flash for
AMS is also using registry entries I guess, I'm not sure though.

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. I have the latest Flash version 11.1.102.55 which supports 32 and 64.

I just reinstalled AMS 8.0.7.0 and upon install I got the "missing controls" error. The following technologies cannot be located on your system...

I have uninstalled an reinstalled both, and although the latest flash version 11 verifies on my machine, AMS continues to say "Unable to display object. File cannot be located".

The template I am trying to use is the "Slideshow with Thumblist".

    Any suggestions?

I have once again reinstalled, but the template "Slideshow with Thumblist" continues to not render any flash. Anybody?

I am not sure what you mean. From the documentation:

    ThumbList
Features support for most common image formats (bmp, jpg, pcx, png, tga, tif, wmf, apm, emf, psd, pcd or gif) ...

    SlideShow
The following image formats are supported: apm, bmp, emf, gif, jpg, pcd, pcx, png, psd, tga, tif, wmf.

What makes you think that Flash should work with these objects?
