a .exe works ok. add it to a AMS project the install gets errors ??

Hi all my little AMS buddies.

Question.

I have a certain .exe that when ran the install works a treat.
But when i try to incorporate this .exe (plus all relative files ) into a AMS project the .exe install gets errors.

I just very simply make a project and use a button and its quick action "run program"

Could there be summet in the actual .exe to staop this or i am doing summet wrong.

This sort of thing has come up a few times on this forum. There are a number of reasons why you could be getting this error, and diagnosing the problem is difficult with the limited info you've given ... any suggestions would just be guessing in the dark. Can you provide more detailed info about the exe in question? And more info about where/how in your project, the exe fits???

the app is adobe photoshop.

the files have been in various folders in different folder location within the cd structure.
After 6 ruined discs i have given up. adding it to a project and just run it from the C: drive...

Provided all of the Adobe Photoshop installation-files are placed in the AMS Documents folder at build time, there shouldn't be a problem.

You may need to ensure that AMS is not inadvertently deleting some of the essential Photoshop installation-files when saving/exporting to .apz format, if that's what you're doing, before building/publishing to CD.

Try first, exporting the whole project to .apz on your desktop. (I realize this might take a fair while with a huge installation like Photoshop, but do it anyway). Then open the apz. file, and Save as "copy of project" from the AMS File menu, into a new folder on your desktop. Now look in the project's Documents folder, and cross-check the contents of the Photoshop installation-files with your original. Make sure that everything is there.

It may be the case, that the problem is as simple as unchecking, the checkbox "Clean Resources" which appears if/when you export the project as an .apz file.

Other than this, it's kinda hard to guess where the problem is, without actually having a copy of all the project-files. I realize that with something as big as Photoshop, it's not really practical to upload the project somewhere so that others can download and diagnose the problem for you ... but perhaps, if you could replicate a dummy version of what you are trying to achieve in a much smaller file-size, and then upload it somewhere (either here, or on a public fileserver), then I could download it, and have a go at diagnosing the problem myself.

Other than that, unless someone else has a suggestion, I'm out of ideas

There is some great info there. I have not put the files in in the docs folder. i have always put them in their own "Software\Adobe Photoshop" folder not actually in AMS Documents.
Will give that a try.

As for the exporting and double checking all files are present, will give that a look at too.

Finally sorted my problem out.

It boils down to the discs title name.
It has to be "Adobe Photoshop CS4"

The build i was using was to make a .iso image.
I found out i had to build to a folder. Then using CopytoDVD make a new disc project,this is the only app i have which would allow me to make a long title name. ll the rest automaticly shortened it.

After all this i got my project to work like a charm..
