Grin SF7 on Vista: takes all cpu and no UI

    Hi there,

I have been running SF7 on Windows XP for years now. When I recently got a Vista machine, I installed the latest version of SF7 (7.0.6.1), but whenever I start the program I get to see the SF7 splash screen (for a short while) but then I never get the program visible on my screen. I can tell from Windows task manager that it is running, in that the process "SUF70Design.exe" is there and is taking around 50% of CPU (on a dual core machine). I have tried to let that process run for long time (20-30 min.), but I never get to see the SF7 user interface.

    Any suggestions?

    Kind regards,
    Michael

Do you have any "extra" plugins? I've seen just this when there are too many plugins or a plugin with "issues".

Try uninstalling suf7, make sure the folder is deleted, and reinstall.

I don't have any plugins installed with SF7. At least not any that I know of (where would I look to find out?).

Already tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Not sure that I explicitly deleted the folder though... Will try that now.

    Thx

Tried uninstalling and explicitly deleting the Setup Factory program files folder. Then I reinstalled and let the installer launch the program when installation was done. This succeeds and I get the SF user interface up on screen and everything seems to run as normal.... However, when I exit SF and try to launch it again, I am back to the previous situation: SUF70Design.exe runs taking 50% cpu and SF user interface never shows up...

Could it be that first startup of SF installs some plugin and if so, where and how?

    Any help appreciated
    Michael

Not sure why you'd get that issue.
I would upgrade to sf8 so you can get some support from IR...
