    New OS

A friend of me and myself are busy with a OS, its virtual now, but we will boot it later. He just started using AMS7 and he did the design (i noticed it looked alot like vista so that'll change)

    click for screeny {Screeny}

Please tell what you all think with expertice of our team, and somebody who used to work for microsoft who is going to help. It will work!

By the way, The name will also deffinetly change!

Let's clear a few things up.
    • Maybe, me and rexzooly should never have announced our shells, We get barely any interest for so much work we put in and you're going to feel the very same thing when people say "Hey, that sounds like a good idea, i'm gonna do that now lolololol". 5 minutes later they release a bad photoshop of what they call their 'OS'
    • An OS is a built-up-from-the-ground thing, not a built-up-from-a-wysiwyg thing.
    • The design is very blocky, It needs work. Hopefully I'm not offending you but it's some constructive critisism. And the vista look is not the way to go, Trust me, I've done it before.
    • Is your project dynamic? Does it automatically know the resolution and adapt to it? Does the Time label change when the time does? All that stuff.

It's cool that everyone is 'borrowing' our ideas, But people have to put some effort into their projects before they announce it here.

Lisux had and still has many versions out today, It's dynamic from time to resolution, And I have'nt just shown an image, I've shown images, videos and even released it.

I suggest you post more media than 2 images.

    Thanks,
    ShadowUK

PS: If you need any help, I am experienced in this sort of thing.

PPS: This is a desktop replacement shell, not an OS.

umm ok...isn't that a shell.....i dont think a shell can be considered an os. Still not bad though...might spice up the gfx a bit =p.

Yeah, I said that in my post as well. But to put it in lua terms ' shell ~= os '.

Nicely said Shadow, I would however like to know how you guys got around the project resizing issue. [Are you predefining the object positions?] I dont generally make programs with ams lol i spend 75% of time making useless dll's/plugin's and 25% making useful ones lol. But I ever decided to make a program would definately need resizing. [suppose i could search forum lol]

Yes the time changes, yes the even the tooltip on the time changes (the day of the week + date) and i know that the vista style must go:P

besides that, it modifies its size to screen resolution and its booted from Virtual Machine (for now)

i calculate the position and size of the taskbar, buttons windows everything... the stuff loads as quick as a bad windows machine but well, we need to solve that:P

I highly doubt this, Can we see some real media? Maybe a screenshot of the OS in the Virtual Machine. A picture that looks like it was made in AMS and Photoshop isn't exactly an OS..

Hey WinTexOS is a Shell Replacment with Custom Roots The OS Will not work
like Windows 100% some porgammers that call absult paths want work woth
    WinTexOS But its still XP

WinTexOS i have given to people on here is a XP/Vista Shell like Shadow has said i also would like to see more media of these and WinTexOS as not died
just been put back a bit thanks to AVG going mad.

Me and Shadow have put in many hours and we have seen many people trying to copy the idea instad of trying to help others.

I would like to see what comes from this but i will still say Shadow so far is the best Shell so far as WinTexOS was based on lisux first build with full help
from Shadow and pormisson WinTexOS became something new from a rebuild and new coding but the idea was from lisux and Me and Shadow have put in
alot of work with one another getting these working and some have said nice
but then next mini we are getting PM's asking how to do it for people asking for the APZ's after we have said no also people have also send me there own
shell verson that a don't resize or work right with all rez's

I thank shadow for all his help with WinTexOS and hope he brings more
    plugins out lol

But Yes please more info media and even demo but so far your app looks like
    Lisux and WinTexOS.

sorry, but this is going to cause offence, but i still have to say it

i think you are all waisting your time and these projects bore the life outter me, MS put how many years work into vista and theres still loads of people that refuse to use it, what makes you think you can do a better job than the biggest software devloper on the planet and xp is buggy enough who would want to run a shell over the top of it.

these kind of projects are ok if they have a purpose, a office app, or like i did a child safe shell for xp, other than that, i see no point at all other than a learning experance,

now, a real bootable OS would impress me, but that is never going to happen in AMS (not without wrapping the whole c libary in a dll) but anything that uses the core of another OS in order to run is no OS and shouldent be called or compaired to one.

dont get me wrong, i applaud your efforts, i just dont see the point
