The colors and overall look is pretty good. I just have two points on this:
    1. The frame around each "section" is too visible. I'd make it smaller (like with a 1px width) or with a more subtle colour.
    2. I'd enlarge a bit the listbox size so there's less need for scrolling. It's not a major problem, but people usually prefer not to have to scroll.

    That's my two cents

Edit: another last thing: I'd align everything cause now it isn't a lot.

yeah, the frame, its a activex 3d frame and thats the smallest it goes, guess i really need to learn how to use my PSP

im going to make the final app 1024x768 so the overall size of the listboxes will increase, they are a little slim

The colors and overall look is pretty good.
Perfect, just what i wanted to hear.....now iv got something to work from

i havent even really started building this app yet, just setup some basic players so i could work on a nice look (all DJ apps have nice skined GUI's), but iv been planing this app for a long time, watch the software stores in about a years time for "Audio DJ Max"

I like the colours, very nice. I would make the font in the grid headers white, very hard to read the black.

that theme is a msstyles theme applyed to the app with a activex control, in windows the header text is white, in VB its balck and there is no API way to change the header text color (none that i can find anyway)....guess i need to find another theme

You would need to edit the style, which can be done with a software such as Stardock's SkinStudio. It's easily done, but it's a paid software.

thats just it, i did view the theme with Style Builder and the heading text is set to white, iv found a few other themes that are doing the same, but most work perfect, must be something in the makeup of the .msstyles file causeing it

no problem tho, iv found one i like and its all working ok

I would put a subtle texture on the grey areas. Something like brushed steel, maybe.

Not sure I would want to start with VB 6 at this point. It has long been dicontinued and is no longer supported. I think I would go with VB.Net instead. I do like VB but if I was looking for a new dev tool I would not choose it. If you don't want to go the .Net route then maybe RealBasic would be better.

i have considerd RealBasic, but i found it a little confusing the first time i tried it, but that was quite a long time ago, now i know a little VB and reading the RealBasic docs its much the same so i will give it a second shot now and see if i can make more sence of it this time

i know VB6 has been dicontinued but there is so much information avalable that i tought it would be a good introduction, i learnt a bit along the way and picked up a few controls that *should* work in RB so the last few weeks have not been a compleat waist

your not the first to tell me to move to .NET, i just want to avoid needing runtimes, i know a VB6 app needs vb runtimes as well so i think a move to RB would be best

its a good job im not on a deadline, lol

I'm evaluating a few tools right now including RB. Likewise I don't want to go the .Net route if I can avoid it. If I can stick with AMS that will be the best. If only AMS had mutilpe windows and better activex support (hint, hint), I would not have to look at other tools at all.
