all depends on the project, how long it takes, what is involved, no one could give a set price, the art if finding a happy medium between you and the customer.

basically you need to estimate how long the project will take you and decide how much you want for your time (per hour) and you have your result.

I don't anything about going rates because the stuff I do is just part of my job but I do know that the most important thing and something that is worth taking trouble over is getting a detailed specification agreed and in writing before you start. It should also include a change request procedure to come into force after sign-off.

If you don't get these sorted first, then you'll find yourself in an endless round of, "Oh and could you also get it to..." which potentially takes more time than the initial project.

Or, if you're talking software, xFlip is a product of AMS - a simple program that turns another program's many files into a single file exe. We've sold over 500 of these in @3 years. Didn't make me a millionaire, but for one piece of software, not too shabby. I have other products I give away for free and that helps the cause as well.

Hi Ron,

You should give away one of your xFlip programs to FlipAlbum.com: that way they can show the examples of what people can do with their software without us having to download and install a FlipAlbum viewer
I was curious about the FlipAlbum software, but I don't want to download and install a viewer, just to see if their software is worth buying for me. Or.... and that might make you sell more xFlips: you should post a sample of a flipalbum where we don't need a viewer. Just a thought!

Trust me, the Viewer is built-in. In my old days (rphmedia.net), I had several samples of xFlip in action. E-Book Systems (makers of FlipAlbum) never really "endorsed" the product, but they never had a problem with it.

Here's a quick link that I'm experimenting with at our other site. I've since acquired Flip Publisher (no longer available) to do these E-Books with. An extremely similar program but emphasizes text flow a bit better.

Edit: BTW, that's just a quick, thrown together sample I created in about 15 minutes. In future books, the graphics and text flow will be much more detailed.
