    Advice Wanted!

You lot are to blame for this! Since discovering AMS, SF & these forums I have rediscovered a dormant part of my computer enthusiasm thats been dead for ooh 21 YEARS!

Quick explanation then the Q: As a young man (teenager) I was given a (wait for it) ZX81 because the guy who bought it couldn't figure out what to do with it!

I quickly became interested and programmed allsorts on it! This led to a long running affinity with all things PC but the programming fell by the wayside around '87.

Now I want, nay need to know MORE! What should I pick up? C#/C++/VB/Visual C++!!/Javascript/Java/AJAX/PHP/Ruby/something completely different!! which would you recommend learning? Have some knowledge of them all (certain things I've done called for a quick smattering of learning) and I believe that crossing from one to another these days doesn't take much!

Any suggestions will be taken onboard, considered & welcomed appreciatively.

As much as I hate to say it, I'd concentrate on .NET, either C# or VB.NET

    Any reaseons why!

Never thought of .NET! Thanks Worm, may I ask why you think these, I mean C (in its various guises) seems obvious coz of its longevity in the programming world but why .NET & VB.net?

Just curious, as its only a fun thing for me, not a career choice at my age.

    Really!

    BUMPED!

Correct me if I'm wrong but is .NET achieved through C#/VB.NET or a language on its own?

    The thickness is showing

LOL, iv been trying to avoid making apps with VB but i seem to be getting pushed in that direction.

mremixer, as no-one has mentioned "PureBaisc" then i thought i would, i was useing it only a week or so b4 i started producing dll plugins for AMS so its relatively easy to pick up

Thats also something i would like to know, can VB.NET do anything for me that PureBasic or an other basic language cant (that dosent require .NET Runtimes)
