An end-user reports:

Do you know what they are referring to when they say 'inactive files'? This could be very difficult to debug because it is not running on a native windows machine.

The end-user solved the immediate problem. It seems that Vista-Mac cooperation relies on the user starting Vista before attempting to access data files, applications, etc.
