    sobrewrite the file

    hello to replace a file

    C:\notepad.exe

    by this other: notepad.exe, to sobrewrite the file?

    I think he is wanting to replace notepad with another text editor, right? Yes, you can overwrite the file - not withstanding windows file protection issues, which I'm not sure if that extends to notepad or not. I **think** you can just install your text editor and write to the registry to use your program.

    i dont think its a wize move to overwrite windows components, as thetford says, write your own keys and set any file associations for your app, its easy enough and theres plenty of examples of how to do such on the forum

    i dont think your users would be pleased if you just overwrite notepad.exe, i know i wouldent
