Setup with Serial number

How can I create – step by step – a setup containing a serial number ?
I already tried with Security, Serial numbers, Add, Command and Generate. I only created one serial number.
But when I run the setup they don’t ask me the number.

from the shortcuts on the left, click 'Before installing' ('Screens' section).
Click 'Add' button and select 'Verify Serial Number' from the list.
