    macko,

Good to hear that you are interested in becoming an AMS guru. Keep in mind that our current power users do not have any official affiliation with IndigoRose. They are all self motivated and have done a great job so far. Some of our power users have thousands of hours experience with our tools so you will need to catch up.

    good luck

When I started to learn AMS...

    * I had a burning desire to learn and then make money from my AMS created applications

    * Spent 10 months missing a day or two only, studying every night

    * studied by printing off (though I.R. sells guides/manuals to save the hassle, for one) the scripting guide and the user's guide.

    * studied by also double clicking on a blank Page (white surface you se when you start AMS) and going to one of the scripting areas (like, "On Show") and then doing a ALT+A to a list of all of the innate Actions in AMS. Then I would each day go through as many as I felt like doing, had time for... where I would click on the help link inside of each's properties dialog. I paid particular attention to what was needed to get the Action to work (the "arguments") and what was returned, if anything, from the Action, after it completed.

    * studied by also helping out on the forums (odd, but it works). At first I made (and still do at times) a complete fool of myself. But, then found I could supply fairly accurate responses after a few weeks of doing such.

    * creating small applications, where I could pick an idea and then try to complete that idea by making a small AMS application (for example, making a username and password saving application, or a basic Web browser).

AMS is a great product. If you want to become a professional developer, you may want to take a look at a platform like C# (c-sharp), where you could use Visual Studio 2005 (2008 is on the way), but start with VS 2005 Express, as it's free!

There are other languages and the way I learned (still learn) may not be the best way for you to learn, so experiment to find what works best for you.

    Patience + Determination = satisfaction

Seems to be as good as any formula.

    Good luck
