Need Help With Some Kind Of DataBase

I am in need for AMS for read data from a file and display it in a drop down box,

when an item is selected from a drop down box i then need it to dispay a message with information that responds with the item that is selected in the database

ie

if joe is selected the messaget that will appear would be joe

bob (message would be bob)

ect...
