    Announcement: TiggTV Episode #1

I have been toying with the idea of launching an educational series on coding within AMS. The aim is to cover a lot of the topics that are asked in these forums and help out our fellow forum members. I don't know how long each show will be or if I will be able to release a new show every week, but I figure I will give it a shot.

So without further delay, I would like to announce the release of TiggTV Episode 1. These first few episodes will be centered around a particular project idea. I was helping a friend with some coding in the project and figured it might be a good place to start. There are a lot of common coding practices demonstrated in this episode.

At this time I don't know if I will release this show in any other format other than the Flash episode that I will post below. If the demand is there for another format I will give it some thought. I also cannot guarantee that I will have more than one episode available at a time, this is mainly due to storage space and the cost of bandwidth.

    So here it is:

    TiggTV Episode #1
    Objectives
    - Enable the SQLite plugin
    - Add Objects to the page to provide a project flow
    - Create an SQLite Database
    - Add a table to the Database
    - Create a function to read the Database and populates a listbox
    - Create a function that addes entries to the Database

I highly recommend that you watch the trainig videos provided by IndigoRose as they cover a lot of the basics that may not be covered in this series. I would also like to request that if you have ideas of a topic you would like to have covered please post them here and I will see what I can do.

    Tigg

Disclaimer: I am not a professional coder nor am I a professional voice over artist. But I do enjoy coding and working with AMS and have a wee bit of experience in education and adult learning practices.

TJ, looking good! Surely this will help others to better understand SQLite. Corey has some competition now.

I would suggest posting the project too with a copy of the project's code from your Code Viewer application.

I meant to upload the project and put the objectives on the page as well. I have uploaded the html file again and added my fantastic Orange to the background . Tell me if the Orange is too much.

Don't want to compete with Corey in creating this stuff and hopefully IR doesn't mind my posting these videos.

Great Video Tigg! I use a program called ScreenFlash to do the same thing. i never thought about adding the videos to a web page though. I think I might make up some simple videos for work to help our users set up thier email account, mapped drives and some other stuff that they usually come to me to get help with. Thanks Tigg! Great Idea! My only problem is that i dont know any HTML.

i guess its time to learn.

Thanks guys. I used CamStudio to capture and piece together the clips and such.

TJ seems to use what I use. Techsmith's (Camtasia Studio) product? I just bought the latest version myself. I have been using them for years, great company, products. They have three default skins now for the video controls/frame.

TJ, that sounds a lot like a Podcast if I ever heard one. I hope to see you posting that to iTunes soon!

Yeah kind of does doesn't it. I hope to keep going with it. It was fun to put together. One of the projects I was thinking of building on the show is an RSS tool. Help learn XML and how to parse such a file. Then that could be used to download and play the video rather than watching in on the web.

But like I alluded to earlier, the episodes may not come out on a regular basis, all depends on time and such.
