foreign languages in text files

hej all,

I am trying out autoplay 4...
my problem: When I load a text file with greek language it always comes out as garbage in the preview... no matter as what I saved the txt file (ascii, dos-txt, unicode, aso....).
The Greek comes out correct only when I write the text directly on the pages... but that's not what I want.

I hope my english is not too confusing... any experience out there?

thanks, Michael

What specifically are you doing with the text file? Please provide us with some details so that we can try and debug this issue for you.

hej Brett,

you are really fast with responses! thanks...

I just got a text file (txt) with greek text in it (truetype fonts, i.e. arial greek) - and I like to load it via variable %loadedtext% on runtime into a text box object - it's working fine, but the greek text comes out as garbage... there must be a trick for it or it's just windows' problem... like I said, I've tried to save the text as unicode, greek codes, etc... always just garbage in the preview...
when I put a text directly in greek truetype on the page it's okay... but that's not what I need, cause the file is bigger (needs scrolling i.e.)

hope, it's clearer now (or did I confused you just more? ) )

greetings, Michael.

I see. It may be that it will not diaplay properly because our text loading code is only ASCII. I am not positive but think that could be the problem. What about converting the text document to HTML and diaplaying it in a Web Browser object?

What you should try is the following:

Go to your TextBox Object and on the Settings tab, check the "Use Custom Font" checkbox and then choose the font you wish to use for you text. That may work for you. Give it a try and let me know what the results are.
