Scan cdrom get info save to database

Can you scan a cdrom and get the info off of it ?
I have a bunch of cd's with stuff on them and I just can't remember what has what anymore.
Was thinking of scanning a cd store the info in a database and give it an ID number and write that number on the cd so if I need to find something I can look in the database.

Sure that's doable. There's a few different ways but basically you just do a wildcard (*.*) file search in the drive and format the results to your database. Then on the front end of your database admin you could add a tool to view/print/edit results, etc.

Ok looks like I will need to look around and see what there is for examples to help me get it going.
    Thanks you.
