The Optimus keyboard with OLED keys

    http://www.artlebedev.com/portfolio/optimus/

Ding dang doo! LaPorte and gang predict a $600 min price tag. Garf! But still, what a cool looking thing.

It will most likely use the OLED technology
That statement can't be a good sign two weeks before it's scheduled to hit the market. Seems like the Feb. 1st announced release date is a bit optimistic.

Yeah, whenever they finally become affordable I'll look at one. There's a lot of potential there. Perfect for multilingual applications and software control templates. It would be great for switching between templates for say Adobe After Effects and Steinberg Cubase.

Oh yes, it is a GREAT idea.
I remember back in the early 80's (last century...) about a project in the Jerusalem College of Technology. You had a keyboard layout beeing projected on your table and based on where you moved your fingers, it "recorded" the virtual keys. At that time it was very novel, but never took off as a viable product.
Still $ 600 is WAAYYYYYY above what such a device should cost.

The $600 is conjecture based upon the fact that there is $200 worth of OLEDs in it.

It's a no go for me, I want to get back to a Natural (keyboard). So, here is my suggestion. Have 17mm key travel (like my laptop), with LEDS like this (adjustable brightness too), styled in a complete standard (multimedia keys, sure but I use Macro Express for such, when needed) keyboard. Have a wireless unit option as well (one wired and one wireless to elaborate).

Has anyone seen such a keyboard?

    No?
