    ReactOS

I haven't used it (yet!), but you can bet its on my list of things to play with.

    blurb from their website:
The ReactOS® project is dedicated to making Free Software available to everyone by providing a ground-up implementation of a Microsoft Windows® XP compatible operating system. ReactOS aims to achieve complete binary compatibility with both applications and device drivers meant for NT and XP operating systems, by using a similar architecture and providing a complete and equivalent public interface.

Is this going to be the next BIG thing Operating systems that are compatible with existing software? Will this be the down fall of Operating System giants? Will Google follow with their own OS. . . Things to ponder.

    Hmmm, ponder, ponder...

I seriously can't wait to try this one out. This would be, IMO, a big leap for Open Source OSes. Knowing you'd have drivers, and compatible software as long as they will work on XP.

It does look interesting. The problem is that if it takes off how many MS patents will it violate? I wouldn't be surprised if the "Start" button has a patent on it...

I'm sure that MS will eat them alive if there were to ever become a following. I downloaded the version that runs inside XP, it's a little hurky-jerky. I'd like to see what it does on its own. Call me geek-boy
