PC protection

I'm curious what others think on this topic ...
What is considered necessary for minimum PC protection these days?

I have AV software installed and I have SurfinGuard, which protects from malicious websites.
I don't use spyware, adware, anti-hacking software or anything else thats out there.
If a PC is going thru a router and the IP address is not visible to the 'net, is anti-hacking software needed? I don't think so, but i'd like to see what others say about it.

What is everyone else using these days for protection?

I have the linksys WRT54G router which has a SPI firewall.
