Setup Icon

Hi,

I was searching for this topic and didn't see anything that exactly answered it. I have a number of SF projects and they have different icons for the final setup. Some show a square computer screen like icon and some show a monitor with a CD leaning on it. I have searched through the setup process and couldn't find anything that would allow me to change it. What am I missing.

P.S I am pretty new at this and appreciate all the help I can get

Mike,

At the moment you cannot change the icon for the compiled setup.exe file. Are you saying that some generated executable files have different icons? I cannot see this but perhaps I do not fully understand your question. Can you provide a screen shot of this?

Yes I am saying that different executables have different icons. I am trying to attach a file of my screen shot, but I don't think I am doing it right. I click manage attachments and then browse, find my file, click upload and tells me that the page cannot be displayed. sorry, like I said, I am new.

That is strange that there would be different icons for similar files. Try reducing the size of the screencap and save it as .jpg.

Another option for large images is to upload them to a free image host like http://www.putfile.com/ which permits images up to 2MB and then just post the link here. There are a variety of free image hosts around nowadays which are appropriate for this such as:

I was able to change the compiled setup.exe icon with an app named "Restorator", should be possible with other resource editors as well.
I guess the replacement icon should have the same sizes and colour depths.
But you should do this every time after you build a setup.exe

So far I was not able to change the icon that appears when the setup initializes, although this should be somehow possible if you dig into it.

It would be nice if this becomes customizable in the next releases of SF.
