iPod Shuffe - 4GB any month?

I found this article (t3.co.uk) just now! Is 4GB on the way for the iPod Shuffle? I may have to buy this, as I just checked one out down in Pittsburgh about 3 hours ago and boy is that light weight (as those that own one already know)!

4GB and less than $130 and I'll buy!

2GB and 4GB iPod shuffles incoming!
Word has it that Apple is set to beef up the storage of its skinny songsmith by the summer.

Reports are surfacing that 2GB and 4GB versions of iPod shuffle could hit shelves sometime between June and August 2005. The only versions available at the moment are 512MB and 1GB models.

Sources for IT news website DigiTimes have allegedly revealed that Samsung and Toshiba, who currently provide NAND flash memory chips for iPod shuffle, are set to heavily increase the output of their latest high-capacity chips (up to 8GB), with Apple’s teensiest MP3 player reaping the benefits of this big push. Apple was unavailable for comment, however we’ll be digging deeper on this new development over the coming weeks, so stay tuned for all the latest on the next batch of souped-up shuffles.

The sign on the unit said 12 hours (for the battery life).. true? More? Less? Corey, what have you experienced?

    Thanks...

I think it's around 10 hours or so, so definitely in the ball park. And it charges from any USB port, so it's convenient. I use mine a lot and I never have any problems with the battery dying... In fact mine has only ever died once and that was because I used it all week without recharging. I'm very impressed with the battery life, and indeed the performance of the unit. It's definitely a good value for the price.

The downside is that you have to be near a computer so they're useless to take skiing for a weekend or on vacation, etc. unless you travel with a computer or are willing to hassle someone else to charge your shuffle. Maybe someone makes a shuffle recharger?

    Cooooool. *Excellent* price too!

P.S. I like how the extended warranty is basically the same price as the unit. Nutty stuff.

If you want to use a 9V battery to power your IPod (or anything USB, for that matter):

ya, i thought it was kinda cool. It's really neat what one can do with a wiring diagram / specs / whatever and a little time.
