It's a mighty fine line between heavy thinking and stress.

I am in awe of these people. Even if i could link numbers to something, i know i'd have trouble remembering the 'story' in order to recall the numbers!!

My father has played chess since childhood and taught me how to play from about the age of 8. I always remember, having learned the 'basics' and moving on to actually playing a game, at the end of the game he would go back to the beginning and 'replay' the game with me questionsing my moves and thoughts in order to improve my play.
I really dont know how productive this was, coz he would run thru the moves of the game like ...
"And then you went here .. what was that about?" and i'm like
"Really .. i dont even remember moving there, i have no chance of remembering the reason behind it!"

The fact that he could remember all the moves of the game was something i sat in awe of.
To go further, he once played my youger brother, a friend of mine and myself on seperate boards simultaneously and was blindfolded on all 3 boards - so he had to remember every move/position on each board, which he did successfully and won all 3 games! [that was the only time i thought i had a chance of beating him .. not so ]

He has since gone on to become an ICCF Grand Master.

    Right on! ICCF Grand Master!

I started playing chess around the age of six. Nothing to serious, just for the fun of it.

Now, I have tried to get my wife to play chess, to no avail. She has no interest in such.
