Re: Can it do this?

AutoPlay Menu Studio can launch any kind of video file or presentation by choosing the Open Document action and specifying the filename in the Target field. Of course, you need to make sure that the user has the appropriate viewer on their system for the file that you are running.

SO, for example, if you tell the menu to launch an MPG file, the user will need to have an MPG viewer on their system in order to properly view it. You may want to include the Microsoft Media Player install on your CD so that the user can run it if they want to.

Re: Can it do this?

With a little experimentation, I was finally sucessful in serving up MPEG1 movies. Support is right in that the end user has to have an MPEG1 player installed, but there are a few problems associated with that. First off, their default player (probably Windows Media Player or ActiveMovie) will fire up and will play the file. But you have little or no control over where it will appear on the screen and it just stays there after the file plays. And if your end user doesn't have a default player installed . . . it just bombs. I bought a product called OnStage from VisibleLight.com and then embedded my MPEG1 movie in a Macromedia Director file, saved it as an executable projector, and had AutoPlay launch it. The results were really great! The OnStage product includes an MPEG player on the CD and uses it and not the end user's default player. Kind of expensive though, AND they want a USD 0.60 license per CD burned.
