Quicktime question
Hello Corey
It is handy this FAQ. Here comes my question, will ir ever (short terms) develop a quicktime object, so like we place avi we also be able to place mov files in (my / our) projects. Thank you PS. I wonder how ams 6 will look like. Personally i find ams great software. Sside |

Thanks.
Hmmm, this one is tough. It's definitely not a "no" but at the same time it's too early to say yes. Here's everything I know about this. At one point the dev team looked into it and discovered that Quicktime, like all proprietary formats, is a bug-eyed boogaloo jamboree at best. That's why you don't see quicktime support in the zillion or so media players out there. It's not like AVI where there are tons of people doing it, it's more like Real media where you don't see any third party players because Apple does not play well with others. That's also why you see people getting away from quicktime altogether for the most part and going for Flash more so instead...You can however currently serve quicktime movies directly in AutoPlay Media Studio pro presentations by embedding them in a web page and using a web object. Anyhow the basic answer, as far as I know, is that we would love nothing more than to add a Quicktime Object plug-in to AutoPlay Media Studio but that the active X control for quicktime was just a little too quirky to work with at this time. Just for the record, this is just me, the designer, talking off the record. Not the development team. I stand corrected by anything they add. Corey Milner Creative Director, Indigo Rose Software |
